Kappa Psi brothers give a 45-minute presentation
about sexually transmitted infections to high school students throughout
the area. The talk is given with an accompanying slide show that depicts
the infections as well as gives treatment and prevention guidelines.
By explaining the etiology of the various infections, students can better
understand how to protect themselves from exposure. Click here

On Monday nights every week, Kappa Psi brothers take part in a multidisciplinary
education program at the Phillips Neighborhood Clinic, a student-run

During July, the American Lung Association takes over Camp Iduhapi
near Loretto, MN and runs a week-long overnight camp for children
with asthma. It is run much like a general YMCA camp but with more
intense focus on asthma education and availability of round-the-clock
specialized medical care. Kappa Psi provides staffing for the pharmacy
at camp and helps with medication distribution and education. Brothers
take three-day shifts and participate in camp activities such as
swimming, games, overnight camping trips, and crafts with the campers.
They are assigned to a cabin and assist nurses with education and
medication administration. Many Minnesota Grad brothers also participate
as pharmacists, overseeing the camp pharmacy. Contact Chairperson
Kari Pedersen if interested in participating.

Located near campus, the Ronald
McDonald House serves families of children with life-threatening
illnesses. Kappa Psi pledges take part in fundraising at one Minnesota
Twins game per semester and use the proceeds to buy items off of the
Ronald McDonald House's wish list. Each spring, brothers supply the
makings for a pancake breakfast or barbeque at the house and cook
for the families living there. Chairpesron is Jenny Lyon.

Health Promotion
For the past few years, Epsilon Chapter has participated several
different health promotion events. From 2001 until 2004 we were involved
in the Minneapolis
Women's Expo, a three-day event held at the Minneapolis Convention
Center focused on women's issues. Brothers staffed the Cub Pharmacy
booth and offer free blood pressure checks, cholesterol screenings
and bone density readings to participants. In 2004, brothers took
over 1000 blood pressure readings over the three days and counseled
participants on the risks associated with hypertension. In 2005 and
2006 we paricipated in the Diabetes
Expo, an event focusing on diabetes-related education and services.
We took over 500 blood pressure readings and did over 300 cholesterol
tests during this one-day event in 2005.

The PharmaCOPA is the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy's
yearbook. Kappa Psi brothers contribute their skills in writing,
photography, graphic design, and layout to the publication, which
is distributed to pharmacies statewide. It is also used as a recruitment
tool for new students, and serves as a nice reference for students
and staff at the College. Editors for 2008 are Kelly Millner, Kelly

Twins Games
Epsilon's main fundraiser is staffing concession stands
at Minnesota Twins baseball games at the Metrodome. Brothers are in
charge of selling hotdogs, soda, beer and other food to hungry Twins
fans. The proceeds from games are designated either for general use
or for a specific charity. One game per year is the "pledge game"
where new initiates are in charge of the concession stand. The pledges
then use the money raised to buy items off of the Ronald McDonald House
wish list and deliver the items to the house.

College of Pharmacy Merchandise
Kappa Psi sells College of Pharmacy clothing, mugs,
and other items. Brothers design items and are in charge of ordering,
payment management and delivery. In the past we've made sweatshirts,
scrubs, mittens, bags, Nalgene bottles, and jackets.

Committees

for a description of chapter offices and duties
Fundraising Committee
Kappa Psi takes on several fundraising activities.
The first is working concession stands at the Metrodome during Minnesota
Twins games. This offers the brothers time to bond over hot dogs and
pretzels while making some money for our chapter. The other major
fundraising activity that we participate in is College of Pharmacy
clothing sales. We design and sell sweatshirts, t-shirts, scrubs,
mittens, and many other apparel items for sale at the College.
Treats Committee
To ensure that we have food at our meetings, the
Treats Committee creates a treats schedule that gives all brothers
a turn at providing snacks. Obviously, taking part in this committee
is one of the more important positions in our chapter.
Intrafraternity Relations
This committee is dedicated to organizing events
between the three fraternities at the University of Minnesota College
of Pharmacy and acting to represent Kappa Psi in intrafraternity matters.
Standing Committees
As outlined in our constitution, there are six standing
committees in Epsilon Chapter. The Executive Committee is composed of
all of our executive officers. The Judiciary Committee makes sure that
all of our rules and regulations are followed. The Legislative Committee
reviews the constitution and by-laws of our chapter and is headed by
the Sergeant-At-Arms. The Scholarship Committee is in charge of awards
nominations and scholarship submissions. They also do our awards for
the spring awards banquet. The Graduate Relations Committee is headed
by the Graduate Chapter Liaison and is the go-between for Epsilon and
MN Grad. Finally, the Social Committee is headed by the Chaplain/Social
Chair and helps to organize social functions for the chapter.
