Kappa Psi meetings are held each Wednesday during
the school term at 5:00 in 2-110/115 Weaver-Densford Hall. At the
beginning of both the fall and spring semester, three open meetings
are held where pharmacy students interested in joining Kappa Psi can
come and find out about our organization (see events
calendar).
Food is served at these meetings and door prizes are awarded. At the
third open meeting, interested students can sign an intent form and
decide to pledge Kappa Psi. After this takes place, pledging is a
six-week process where pledges perform various activities to get to
know their brothers better and for their brothers to get to know them.
Each pledge is paired with a "Big Brother" to assist them
in the pledging process (check out the "Epsilon Family Tree"
link at the bottom of the page to see who had who for a big brother).
There is one mandatory pledge workshop to instruct pledges on the
history and present ways of our organization, and attendance is required
at all regular Wednesday meetings during the pledging process. There
is also a required pledging fee (paid instead of fall semester dues).
Pledges are able to attend the dinner meeting free of charge and also
offered free registration to Conclave during the semester which they
pledge. The pledging process culminates in "informal initiation"
where the pledge class cooks dinner for the chapter and participates
in several activities. At NO TIME during the pledging process is the
pledge allowed to drink alcohol at Kappa Psi functions or is required
to participate in hazing or do anything which the pledge finds unreasonable
(see Kappa Psi
pledging policy for
complete details). After informal, the pledge participates in "formal
initiation", where he or she is inducted as a full brother of
Kappa Psi.
