AAPS Student Chapter Kick-Off Meeting a Success!
A pizza lunch was organized for graduate students and post-docs to discuss the goals of the AAPS Student Chapter at the U of M. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce new students to the chapter and to generate new ideas and interest in chapter activities.
Executive committee members led a discussion about the benefits of becoming an AAPS member and participating in chapter activities. We also talked at length about ideas for upcoming skill development workshops and interest was expressed in workshops on scientific writing, stress and time management, and advanced use of Excel (i.e. creating macros, performing statistics, etc.). There was also interest in organizing seminars to cover topics such as intellectual property and drug development and research in the pharmaceutical industry. We also discussed recruiting a Waters representative to share the latest in pharmaceutical analysis (LC, LC-MS, etc.).
